Our first honor on youtube!

Hello all quadrennials!

We just wanted to say thanks again for your support. Stefanie's video garnered an award on youtube as one of the top "linked to" videos of the day in the nonprofit and activism category. We look forward to many more accolades. Thanks for your support, and be sure to view Stefanie's story!

Your videos - Tell Us Your Story!!

As you've seen on our website and below, we are calling all quad's and supporters to submit videos in support of the Leap Day 08 campaign!

We ask that the messages be those of sympathy and positive action on the part of The Quadrennial Council.  Tell us your story!  Capture the essence of daily life as a quadrennial!

As you submit/upload your videos, please be sure to tag them or title them (or both) with the words "Leap Day 08" so that the masses can find our messages easily.

Of course, using other words such as leap year, 2008, february, 29, etc. will be very helpful as we attempt to spread the word!

We look forward to leading change in our government through advocacy and education!

Who we are and why we are here!

We are The Quadrennial Council.  A group of motivated individuals focused on improving the living conditions of quadrennials (leapers) everywhere.  Leap Day 08 is our campaign to end the unjust stripping of rights of quadrennials the world over.

People born on leap day suffer more than most know.  Not being able to celebrate a birthday yearly, actually legally limits our rights.  We aren't able to drive until we literally turn 16.  We have had some go legally blind by that time - actual age of 64.

We aren't able to vote, drink, and many other age-based activities legally due to the circumstances of our birthday.  What's worse, is that many of us suffer from age related confusion because of this.  Many of us are forced to identify and interact with people one-fourth our age, because we simply don't fit in with the general public.

We are calling for Leap Day 2008 to be the LAST leap day, and want the government to add a February 29th to every succeeding calendar year!

Join US!!!

Videos!

We are starting to get some videos from other quads. We have to all approve them before we post, but we are so excited. Please keep an eye out for us on youtube and we'll be sure to link the videos back here as videoblog entries too.

Once we can get a few conventions down, we will likely call for all videos posted on youtube on behalf of leapers to start with certain words so that we can find all of them quickly. Keep checking back!

All kinds of orgs coming out of the woodwork!

We are so happy to have been lucky enough to find other groups that have gathered to support quadrennials!  We will start posting links so that everybody can find them soon enough.  We do want to make sure that our organization has a positive impact though.  We have come across some groups that aren't as interested in activism, and some that are downright calling for negativity.

We will be sure to screen them and post the best ones for people to learn about and grow the newtork!

Today has been a rough day for the team...

There are so many logistics to figure out for the big day. So many questions to answer. Are we changing our direction? Will we get enough support in time!

Thanks to everybody that is a part of keeping the wind in our sails!

Marketing Ideas

We are really getting some steam behind our call to action. We've decided to open up a comments section on our website for marketing talent across the globe to submit ideas to help us in our cause. We've actually garnered a great deal of funding from some well-off leap day babies in the philanthropic community and we're looking to hire a firm for a strategic communications onslaught this Spring!

the team is beaming!

I found a group on mySpace

We are out there!

there is a group of fellow quadrennials formed on mySpace and we are very excited to hear about them. The group is named "Every Four Years". All my fellow leapers, please look them up and inspire them to mobilize with us this coming February!

Calling all Quad's!

We're searching for you! If you too were born on February 29th, we need your support.

Our numbers are growing, and this February we will truly get the chance to shine! We have received written responses from three congressmen so far, acknowledging our plight and supporting our cause informally.

If the government can add or subtract an hour at their whimsy, why can't they add one day to a year to give us the same rights as every other citizen?
